@geekatplay: do you have (in plans maybe) tutorials about Vue Esprit 2015 > Blender workflow by chance? I am thinking to get Vue to generate some nice landscapes (I sure hope so, as I have never worked with it before), get them into Blender, decimate for game engine and bake textures from high poly copy. If possible, add some wear and tear in World Machine. Having a tutorial about this process would definitely allow me (and I am sure many other game devs) to hit the ground running. Thanks.

Nice! Well, it doesn't show up like that even after being built in 2.3.7 (which is the latest afaik). It outputs mesh though.

Thanks! :)

Sure thing:

By preview I mean that 3D landscape as seen for the first terrain loaded. While recording, second terrain that has no preview was building, just slow. And cancelling is super slow. Why is that ?

So I finally dug up my old terrains made in version 2.something. One of the projects opened fine, and got built. However another one, the one I needed the most, opened up, but it can't be built or even previewed.

When I build it, it just hangs there with 0% and freezes if I cancel it.

The file is attached. Thank you.

The last development post from remnant was from March :/

Has development simply slowed down or is World Machine "going down" ?

Eeh, I thought you can not make vertical walls in WM

I don't. What can Terragen do that WorldMachine can't?

Is it about LOD iterations for the terrain mesh output?

@asierra: Nice. The main thing I am looking for is material nodes and scene set up for rendering to achieve such nice dunes as seen on geekatplay's image :)

@WFab: Yeah, Cycles isn't quite there yet. But I recall volumetrics will be coming with Blender 2.7. Blender Render (former Blender Internal) is not hard to deal with. What version of Blender are you using?

Oh my! Beautiful!

Btw, why not to use World Machine and Blender? That would make pretty good tutorial :)

Bug Reports and Help / Re: Cutting terrain into chunks

I see. Yeah, probably not worth messing like that with my terrain. I need ~50+ chunks.

What's the cost of upgrading from Standard to Pro?

I need to cut up my terrain into chunks and bake normal map in such a way so seams don't show. Is it there same as generating Tiled Terrain? I have Standard version.  Would I have to upgrade or is there a way to make it with Standard version? Thanks.

Nice start!

I'd like to see how to create something like this in your tutorials:

http://www.cornucopia3d.com/purchase.php?item_id=11161
http://www.cornucopia3d.com/purchase.php?item_id=11475
http://www.cornucopia3d.com/purchase.php?item_id=11733

using only World Machine, no Vue (or maybe World Machine + Bender)

@Remnant: Any idea what is so special in Dax's "proprietary Snow Distribution Device" and if something like that will be coming to World Machine ?

here's a world-machine example for you voood http://www.nioncapul.net/pics/belnkremap_type1.jpg

i'm using a b&w eroison mask to keep my coastlines intact since much of them were draw on paper back when i was 16. the river's were draw on by hand in photoshop but i have layout vector lines carving the general paths in WM.

Can you please explain in details how did you make that? o.O (or post your scene / example scene maybe) Thanks

Any chance for LOD iterations to be generated for each tile? :)

Unigine?! Pffff... We won indie license ~2 years ago. The engine is spaghetti code and slow, support non-existent (unless I suppose $40k is spent for source license). So after couple of years spent on it and not being able to get anything done with it (small indie devs don't have 10 C++ coders on staff, which is what Unigine needs), we were cut out from all updates, forums, docs, etc.

Indies should stay away as far as they can from this engine. It's designed to be used in simulation apps by large agencies who can throw money on support and tools (no Blender add-ons for Unigine, nor any free specs someone can use to make add-ons).
