Just a quick note that Inkscape paths (including the attached file at the start of this thread) can again be imported successfully in the upcoming 3.0.riverpreview2.

Inkscape changed their SVG export handling and WM no longer correctly parses bezier paths created by it. I will try to fix this soon, as it is a deficiency in WM's SVG parser.

I got a tip from inkscape forums, you can create a closed shape by simply drawing your path (with F6), selecting it and pressing object union (ctrl +).
If you fill the shape with a solid color it will be seen by wm as an area, otherwise it will remain a simple line.
Enjoy!  8)

Yes but it's a shame that we can't use inkscape, anyone tried with adobe illustrator or coreldraw?

@ilbiffi, thank you for the reply, it was very helpful.

By loading my document into drawsvg.org and making one small adjustment I was able to save anew version which was loadable into World Machine.

I recall being on that site before so thanks for jogging my memory and also for figuring out why WM is not accepting inkscape drawings

By using that online tool I just saw that only cubic splines are correctly imported, quadratic ones are not! mmhh, maybe in inkscape there's some default setting for quadratic smoothing...

Hey I'm trying also to use svg paths.
I noticed that files saved with this online editor http://www.drawsvg.org/ are correctly recognized by wm, while svg saved with inkscape are not.

I am quite surprised that no one else uses svg to import layout shapes.

Hi Stephen, I am struggling to import a single svg path that only has a fill and no stroke. Would it be possible to have a look at this file and let me know what the issue might be?

Also would you summarize the current do's and dont's of svg imports for shapes or lines?

Thanks
