Use 3Dem program to convert DEM files to tiff 16bit format, then import the tiff into worldmachine. Improve on it and export.

yes it´s possible to import real-world terrain data into WM and then manipulate and export again.
I don´t know much about Geoglyphe, sorry. I dont think, you will need it.

Just import original data and manipulate it a bit. there is an example "improving real world data" in the Wm example worlds.
