Plugin Development Forum / PDK for WM2.0
« on: January 02, 2008, 09:18:40 AM »
I haven't seen any discussion for the PDK for WM2.0.  Will it be released commensurate with the software itself or will it follow at some time later?

General Discussion / Great!
« on: November 29, 2005, 07:31:12 PM »
Thanks, Stephen!  I can work around this for the time-being, of course.  Stephen, I'm still trying to solve the other problem I asked you about on the other thread, that is how to remove noise from a map.  I'm just too new to your program to figure out which device would eliminate noise.  Fill volunteered to help, but I need to send him some files, and I don't know his real e-mail address.

General Discussion / Integer parameter beef
« on: November 29, 2005, 10:25:14 AM »
OK, I'm working on my world builder macro, and I want the user to be able to enter some control elevations (e.g. deepest trench, highest mountain, etc), but you cannot use an integer outside 999.  Why this limitation?  Can this be fixed to permit the full integer range up to 32767 (I'd like to go beyond that, but at least it will cover the range of earth's altitudes in feet)?  Of course, my macro will take these numbers and convert them to scalars.

Bug Reports and Help / File help
« on: November 28, 2005, 09:51:52 PM »
I'm having trouble using the select height filter, and I'm starting to think it is a bug with the filter itself.  I'd like to send my world and input file to an expert to see if they can confirm it.  Anyone willing to take a look?

Bug Reports and Help / Noise removal
« on: November 27, 2005, 06:53:30 PM »
What is a good filter to remove noise?  By noise, if you look at a mask and it has a couple of isolated gray dots in addition to what you want, how can you remove those dots?

General Discussion / Ultimate in curve wish
« on: November 27, 2005, 03:32:44 PM »
The best would be if you could load and save curve files in some appropriate format (e.g. WMF).  Then we could have a template that you could you a vector graphic program to build the curve.  Or perhaps, Excel spreadsheet could generate a graph.

Bug Reports and Help / Color Selector
« on: November 27, 2005, 11:36:24 AM »
Yes, I knew I'd have the color to greyscale problem, and I think I can get around that.  What I'm trying to do is make a world builder to where the user can paint a bitmap in particular colors (darkest blue for ocean trench, lighter for ocean basins, light blue for continental shelf, white for land, two different blues for inland seas and major lakes, brown for hills, and grey for mountains).  The macro would then take this and build a world with those specifications.  I wanted intuitive colors for the different terrains and not just arbitrary grays.

Bug Reports and Help / Height Splitter doesn't work
« on: November 27, 2005, 05:38:03 AM »
I have tried that.  Another post said that the height splitter makes n equal bands of height.  My input map doesn't have n equally-spaced discrete colors throughout the color-space for a height map.

I think I need the select height filter, but I can't figure out how to get the thing to work, and there are no tooltips for it.

Thanks for the answer, but it doesn't work.  To confirm that it doesn't, I wired each output of the splitter to a bias/gain with bias=.5 and gain=1 (to make it pure black/white).  This I wired into a chooser using select a where white and b where black.  I wired input a up to a constant of 1.0 and b up to a constant of 0.  The output of this chooser was of a uniform height rather than a mask for one of the colors present.

Bug Reports and Help / Device help
« on: November 26, 2005, 08:37:41 AM »
Any estimate on when the device reference will be out?

I would like to understand the select height device.  I've experimented with it, but since there is no tooltip help in it, I'm really running into problems.

I've concluded this is what I need from reading other posts.  What I'm trying to do is build a mask from an input bmp which has 10 discrete colors.  What I want is to build a mask for each of those 10 colors to control other devices.  I've figured out how to use the chooser just fine.

General Discussion / New Help file
« on: November 24, 2005, 09:52:55 AM »
OK, I downloaded v1.2, but is there a new pdf help file somewhere for it?  Or do we just have to rely on the change descriptions?

General Discussion / Multi-platform
« on: April 02, 2005, 06:13:59 PM »
Any thought to making the new version run on a Mac?  I use TG on my Mac, and I love WM, but using WM in Virtual PC with any kind of resolution is essentially a waste of time (and a lot of it!).

General Discussion / Background processing
« on: April 02, 2005, 06:10:26 PM »
With the new version, will it be possible to continue using the computer for casual browsing and Office tasks?  I guess what I'm asking is will WM occupy so much resources that alternate computer uses are impractical?  (I realize playing the latest 3d games is a non-starter, just talking about routine browsing and productivity tasks).

Bug Reports and Help / Island Macro continued
« on: February 15, 2005, 11:33:47 AM »
Okay, thanks Fill.  That's about what I expected.  I haven't figured out yet how to use masks in TG, but that's a topic for another list.

Bug Reports and Help / Island heightmaps possible?
« on: February 14, 2005, 08:08:45 PM »
Has anyone used the Island macro cited by the previous post?  I used it and it is really great.  However, I'm a new user and I don't understand what I am supposed to do with the Tree Mask output.  I imported the Terrain output to Terragen and it produced fantastic results.
