Will it have a function like changing it's direction in degrees (like with the displacement device?)
Or will it just be like the flipper device? 0/90/180/270 steps? either way would actually be fine for me though.

Just curious, it would really be handy to have it like the displacement device (including randomize function)

Uhhh. is that a triple post in 1? A bit hard 2 read

Oh I remnant! Good to hear! (And to hear your voice again!)

I've seen you being active but just not talking much, which is probably a good thing lol.

Just curious about the current scale slider then. Was that also just a quick hack and not (or optionally) intented for the final device? :O

Yeah lol. the biggest pain is the masks to make sure non get to overlap each other, expanders required for that, and alot of fine tuning.

Without the 16 limit cap it would be much less of a pain, i could just dump all the equally sized pictures onto one device each (1024/768/512/256 etc), since the scatter device cannot support different sized pictures without losing their original scale. A (random) rotation device like flipper would easy the pain even more :p

Shows how important certain functionalities/improvements can be.

I can't wait for the next WM version :(

Have your tried something with Select Slope/height or/and curve device, etc?
or some combination?

Me placing islands around the land mass. Using masks for each side to indicate where islands where previously positioned so they do not get overwritten by the next set. A bit complicated but it works.

Scatter Madness :p This are only half the assets i have. Atm im using two pictures, one horizontal and one vertical, and use flipper device to mimic the other two rotations so i have a total of 4 directions. This is as optimized as i can get it atm. The device would benefit greatly from:

- Multi threading
- Remove 16 Input limit
- A Rotate device with (random) toggle

I probably wouldnt need so much expanders each step either when the 16 limit is raised, because per device it wont override its own placements, only in between scatter devices.

Scattering Device Increase Input limit to 256 at least :p

Saves me from having to create like 20 seperate devices and all the corresponding masks/expanders to make sure nothing gets placed on top of each other :)

I hope 16 is not a technical limitation.

It seems to happen right at the zoom in step where the image actually hits the top/bottom border of the screen.

Bug Reports and Help / Zooming in on heightmap in 2d mode shaves off edges
« on: November 20, 2014, 03:02:00 PM »
Not super critical, but quite annoying.

To elaborate, on my 4096x4096 in heightmap (black/white) 2d mode, on zoom out the full map is shown.

but when zooming in it cuts off a fixed amount of pixels on the sides of the map, unable to view the details up close.

Id say its some 25/100 pixels wide which is no longer visible (rough guess)
Neither manual mouse move nor vertical/horizontal bars allow me to show all the details.

Nice. it worked great with the clamping device.

Just a suggestion,

Its reasonably slow when processing alot of images etc.

Not sure how else to speed it up when processing a total of 250 png files :p
I already tried using uncompressed png's since i got an ssd with alot of bandwidth throughput but didn't really matter.

Cheers :)

Ah ok understood, and yeah havent thought of using the clamping device -.-

Btw, any chance that the 16 input limit could be increased? Just a suggestion.
I was lucky to exactly reach the 16 limit, but i had to rotate all my assets 4 times because of the lack of a rotating device (including randomize functionality)

Thanks!
