I can open two extra windows now I have upgraded to Pro but they keep switching views on me.
  • I would like to be able to pin a extra viewport to a specific view per window.
  • It would be very helpful to be able to drag and drop layout window tabs to reorder them.
  • Hide/Show curve handles. When dealing with many points close together it can onerous to deal with handles and points

Oh I meant in (kilo)meters vs resolution - your import in Unity showed 75 x 75 meters with a height of 1000 meters?
I think it might be 3Km?

3
I am just learning World Machine. How large is your terrain size in WM?

4
How are you importing the height map in unity?

5
When i used a r16 file I didn't have that problem. I was told if you try to use tif it will convert it to 8 bit internally and only true raw input files work @ 16 bit. So I expect my issue was not your issue.

6
The reason I asked is I tried to use a 16 bit tif file with MapMagic in Unity  using the texture input node and I got that same stepped effect.

7
Just curious - your file output from world machine is using raw r16 file?

8
Did you try a chooser?

9
1) Install World Machine
2) Remove World Machine
3) World Machine Documents Folder left behind under user\Documents folder
4) Remove  World Machine Documents Folder
5) Reinstall World Machine
6) World Machine Documents Folder will *not* be re-created

Edit: I added a copy of 2.3.7 to my machine and then the folder was created

Perhaps these folks would share their model? http://gizmodo.com/a-swarm-of-drones-3d-mapped-the-matterhorn-in-stunning-1445555177

I realize your most likely looking for a more generic source of high detailed maps.

@ilbiffi, thank you for the reply, it was very helpful.

By loading my document into drawsvg.org and making one small adjustment I was able to save anew version which was loadable into World Machine.

I recall being on that site before so thanks for jogging my memory and also for figuring out why WM is not accepting inkscape drawings

Well the GIS data from bing is only at level 11 which is 53 m/p so the resolution leaves something to be desired but you will get the general shape.

Edit: replaced attachment with one slightly better centered.

hmm - you could use DEM sat/gis Data and build hieghtfield from that, as a base...

Been at that for a few hours but nothing straight forward.

If you use Unity you can use World Composer to generate a height map from bing data and import that into WM. I would be willing to generate an example for you if you want. Just PM me.

General Discussion / import non square heightmap
« on: March 28, 2015, 06:37:22 AM »
Hi I was trying to figure out why a height map file was not importing into WM and I find out that non square height map does not seem to work. Is this a bug or just not supported?

I am quite surprised that no one else uses svg to import layout shapes.

Hi Stephen, I am struggling to import a single svg path that only has a fill and no stroke. Would it be possible to have a look at this file and let me know what the issue might be?

Also would you summarize the current do's and dont's of svg imports for shapes or lines?

Thanks

Hi Very nice work. The fourth picture down is exactly the look I am hoping to reproduce in my own project. Any hints?

Hi Martin, my apologies for the delayed response. I wasn't notified of an update to this thread and then was on vacation for the last two weeks of February. Invite sent.
