With River1 release there is currently a bug that stops Tiled Builds from working. River2 is about to drop in the next month or so hopefully so keep an eye out on the Announcements forum.
I am running a similar spec'd machine. (64GB RAM instead). If your doing a 1px/m resolution you will struggle especially if your attempting to output more than 1 texture at a time. I built a 40960x40960 texture and it used up about 28GB of RAM. Note: If you attempt to output more than 1 texture I would recommend saving the project first then rendering a single image, closing the application and then render the next image.(don't forget to save it to disk) The reason for this is that World Machine will keep that previous image output in memory, you see where this is going if you need to do multiple.
I was wondering if you had any tutorials on World Machine regarding creating textures from within World Machine?
A set of tutorials specific to creating textures in World Machine. Something that would show different texture styles for the different areas (swamp, Desert, mountains etc etc). I do have some limited Photoshop skills but am looking at some way to get different style textures for the different areas and have those areas blend nicely from within World machine. I have all of your videos on World Machine, if anyone knows how to do this, I think you will.
Cheers for yet another brilliant set of tutorials.
Hi Remnant, I understand how the general settings options work, I am setting them to -250 for the low point and 1250 for the high point. I guess what I was hoping for is a way to have the output scaled accordingly (i.e. subset of grey scale depending on the information put into the General Setup Dialog) so the output resembles what has been created in World Machine.
Just a quick question. I am experiencing some difficulty when using the height maps World Machine produces in other products. I am finding that when I use the height maps in other applications I am getting EPIC jaggy terrains, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this.
This is currently experienced in L3DT and the Terrain Builder Application toolbox for Arma 3.
Firstly I am new to your product but am enjoying the learning experience. I am trying to develop terrains for a game called Arma 3. It is a military sim style First/3rd person shooter. I have been successful in getting my terrain into the engine but I am currently needing to conduct a middle step. The middle step is changing the scale of the height map in L3DT.
