I'm currently thinking about how I would create an interior world. I think it would be pretty awesome to be able to see thousands of miles off in the distance. Imagine seeing the lights of Chinese cities from Europe at night. I suppose creating it would involve similar techniques to creating a planet but inverting the heightmap so mountains appear on the interior.
Any advice or theory that could help me in my endeavour?
- Ability to create relief maps by drawing splines and moving them in 3-dimensions and converting to a heightmap. I find that using polygon or circle leaves the top very flat and would love to have more control over the geometry of continents/islands. - A river tool that carves out a river realistically, a spline placed within the terrain that works similar to Cryengine's road and river tool. - Defining the sharp peaks of mountains.
