Bug Reports and Help / Adding an Icon to a Macro
« on: June 11, 2017, 10:48:23 AM »
I was wondering if there's a way to add an icon to an existing macro?  Specifically, I wanted to add an icon to the "Rotate 90 Left" macro.  When I assign it to the toolbar, it's just a black square.

Bug Reports and Help / Project Information Bug?
« on: March 15, 2014, 08:41:48 AM »
I downloaded the file, "Island with mountains and lowlands Modifed with two color schemes.tmd" in the General Discussion "total newbie question"
When I double clicked the tgd, it had an active Project Information but it was displayed under the WM splash screen.  The splash screen is "locked" on the display until "OK" was clicked on the Project Information window. However, that window was hidden (under the splash screen.)  I happened to see part of the window frame and was able to drag it out to reveal the "OK" button.

Also, I un-checked the control to not display the Project Information but can't to to be able to re-enable it even though "Show this project's information upon file load" is check under Project Settings|General Setup.

I'm likely missing something obvious. 64bit (beta)

Bug Reports and Help / Open Additional Window Bug?
« on: November 11, 2013, 09:35:04 AM »
I just noticed when I open an additional window and make a selection, like "3D View (F8)", the six small icons are corrupted and there's no mouse hover text on any of the icons on that view window.

Anyone else notice this?

Bug Reports and Help / Monuments
« on: January 25, 2013, 10:39:51 AM »
Hi!  I'm trying to generate "monuments".  They look like this:

I have a basic shape....  but I would like to extend the center (top) upwards and haven't found a good way to do this (yes, I don't have a good grasp on many of the devices.)  Does anyone know of a good method to get some increased height on that area on just the top section?

Feature Requests / Pause Build Button
« on: January 24, 2013, 05:53:50 PM »
I searched on this topic and got a couple hits but they were pretty old (2005).  As WM gets more efficient in using a larger percentage of our CPU time, I can see a build pause button becoming more important.

I have a quad core and plenty of memory, but my day job sometimes causes me to jump to other applications that sometimes can be rather CPU intensive.  I'm thinking a pause button may be a nice feature (if it isn't hard to implement.)

I wouldn't expect an implementation that freed up the memory WM was using -- just a pause/continue.  And this isn't a high priority and wouldn't want to slow down development just to get this feature. :D

Development News / Deleting a Device
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:27:32 PM »
I know this is already been identified, but thought it would be a good idea to bring it up again, plus there may be related problems that others may find too.

Start WM 2.3 beta1 and click on a device, like Height Output.  Press the delete key and the group deletes, not the (expected) Height Output device.

Development News / Right-Click Menu Problems
« on: June 10, 2011, 07:30:47 PM »
This might be something on my system, but I had just added a device and then wanted to bypass it, so I used the usual right-click and selected bypass.  It worked fine, but later, when I tried to enable it, there was no right-click menu (on any device).  The device commands menu up at the top still work, as do the keyboard shortcuts.

I was running x64, so I tried x32, and it didn't even work the first time (no right-click menu.)

Seems like once it stops working, it is persistent.  Also, the right mouse button still works for moving the node display.

Development News / Macros on the Toolbar
« on: June 02, 2011, 03:31:26 PM »
Is there a limit to the number of macros you can put on the toolbar?  I can easily fill it and expected an extension indicator when I did, or maybe it just wouldn't add anymore.  However, what it did when I added one that must have been the limit, they all disappeared from the toolbar.

[edit] seems to work this way on both x32 and x64 versions 2.3 beta-1

Feature Requests / Thumbnails
« on: December 29, 2010, 06:03:34 PM »
I was finally getting down to organize my World Machine content.  I usually output to .ter, so I have a rather large group of .ter and .tmd files.  I wanted to add a thumbnail for each so I would have a quick way of identifying each for possible use in a future project.

Anyway, I think an auto thumbnail feature would be great (maybe an output device or macro)?  Currently, I'm doing a screen capture of the 3d view and cropping in PS. Or maybe I'm just missing an easy way to do this.

Bug Reports and Help / Delete Device Bug?
« on: June 03, 2010, 01:37:04 PM »
Not sure if this is a bug, and if it is, it's very minor.

When I right-click on a device (say the Terrace filter) and select "Delete device!", the filter group disappears and the device remains.

Bug Reports and Help / Macro Library Problems
« on: May 10, 2009, 10:31:28 AM »
I'm running World Machine 2.1 Pro 64 bit and can't seem to get the macro library to work.  I've copied a few .dev files I've downloaded to the default path (C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\World Machine 2 Professional) and also tried setting the path to a simple c:\Macros, but all I see when I click on "Devices|Macro from Library...", only one shows up on the list (Anti-Edge).  Since it starts with an "A", I assumed it was the first entry, so I changed the name to and sure enough, only the next one showed (coastal-overlay).

I had 2.15 beta installed and I could see the full macro list, but I kept getting immediate crashes when either connecting or deleting the macro device.

Is anyone else having these problems?  Or am I doing something wrong?

General Discussion / Testing testing 1...2...3...

Just wanted to check if this forum is really down for maintenance or not.  The forum link on the home page links to a "WM server is down for maintenance".
But this:
brings up the forum.

Feature Requests / Incremental Save
« on: July 22, 2008, 05:41:09 PM »
I was doing some quick builds today that I wanted to expand later when I had more time, and I realized the an incremental save would be a nice feature.  Something like setting a file name, such as try1_1.tmd and saving it.  When you make some changes (or not) and hit the "incremental save" key, it would save a new file called try1_2.tmd.

This should be rather easy to implement and would be a time saver when working a project where you want to generate a bunch of different terrains to try later in your favorite rendering software.
