Geology and Terrain / Re: Interior World

It's actually a fantasy world, I was just using Earth as an example. If the only source of light was an interior sun and there was no night then yeah you probably couldn't see much at all from the sunlight scattering in the atmosphere. Probably couldn't see China from Europe but maybe from North and South America...

Probably a better idea to cut a hole in the terrain, model your cave and just cover the transition between the terrain and cave with rocks or something. Here's a tutorial (use google translate): http://www.smokymonkeys.com/kyrill/index.asp?direct=22

Geology and Terrain / Interior World
« on: April 12, 2014, 09:07:56 PM »
I'm currently thinking about how I would create an interior world. I think it would be pretty awesome to be able to see thousands of miles off in the distance. Imagine seeing the lights of Chinese cities from Europe at night. I suppose creating it would involve similar techniques to creating a planet but inverting the heightmap so mountains appear on the interior.

Any advice or theory that could help me in my endeavour?

What about making the size of your terrain 10km x 10km. You're then fitting 10km into a 1024 texture which you can make to look like a square km.

Feature Requests / 3D splines

3D splines

Some uses:

- Ability to create relief maps by drawing splines and moving them in 3-dimensions and converting to a heightmap. I find that using polygon or circle leaves the top very flat and would love to have more control over the geometry of continents/islands.
- A river tool that carves out a river realistically, a spline placed within the terrain that works similar to Cryengine's road and river tool.
- Defining the sharp peaks of mountains. For example:
