Terrain created with World Machine 2 and imported to Terragen 3 for rendering.
Rendered with Terragen 3.
Lol! xD
Is this a challenge? =P

Awesome! This is exactly what I wanted.
Thank you Stephen. I appreciate you taking the time for this and I can now see what I did wrong ;-)

Eh.... I've tried what you said and other things, but I just keep getting some crazy results. It's probably
a very easy thing to do, but I just cant figure it out. Would you mind take a look at the tmd. file I've attached?

Hi Stephen,

Like you said... this was pretty easy to do. However, it also got me in to some new problems. The terrain is built with
the "layout generator" so when the erosion effect fade out it looks very strange and unnatural. I think it would be better
if I could just smooth out the erosion effect or the terrain from the height I have chosen, but I cant figure out how to do this.
I've tried, but with no luck. I'm pretty sure something has to be connected after the erosion devise this time, but I have no clue.

I just need a little help. I want the erosion effects to be strong from the top of the mountain and down to about
the middle. From there I'd like it to start fading out or not be so strong if that make any sense. Anyone who can help
me with this?

I've added a image below and it is from the line and down I want the erosions to start fade out.

Hm... maybe it was a one time ting.
I'll try one more time and see what happens ;-)

I have 24G of memory and did not get this message so I don't think this is where the problem lies  :D
However. I have noticed myself that there is no problem if I build it with a resolution of 4K or lower.

It is rendered in World Machine and it is made using Layout Generator.
I've never seen this problem before and it only happened when I set the resolution to 8k

So if you make a cool terrain with World Machine and import it to Terragen 2 you can make some awesome stuff ;)
These two softwares are made for each other  :D

Thank you very, very much for that youtube tutorial  :D
I understand it's not possible to use normal map for terrains in CryEngine and not possible to get the full details with imported terrain, but the things he does really help giving the terrain an extra touch and a lot more interesting.

General Discussion / Wrold Machine to CryEnine 3

Anyone know how to import World Machine terrains to CryEngine 3 and still get some decent details in the terrain?
I have managed to import some terrains, but they don't look to good. I can see that the grid in CryEngine have lots of more polygons it can use. I just don't understand why it doesn't use them.

Any help with this would be really great  :D

This is great. I am also waiting for more :P
Or you can use the "Layout Mode" and create it just the way you want it =)
It may not be ideal if you're creating very large scenes like in Stephen's example. It would at least take you a very long time.

I understand what you mean. I'm having the same problems. When I do tests with lower resolutions like 512 or 1024 the terrain looks ok. So I decide it may be the final and change the resolution to 4096 and when its done it looks different.

It would however be easier if you could post two images to show Stephen what you mean.
