So I upgraded to professional.

Just a question: Can you install V2.x and Beta V3.x in parallel?
Is there something from V2.x that doesn't work in Beta V3.x?

You need to buy at least the standard version to access the development builds.
Once you have a license code go here https://update.world-machine.com/upgrade.php and you can choose which version to download


Thanks, I found it.
As I bought the standard edition in August 2015, I can download all releases up to August14th, 2016, which means
•World Machine 2 Standard 3.build3011 (12/14/2015)

The only way to get World Machine 3.build3014 (February 6, 2017) seems to be to buy an upgrade. Well, seems I'm out of luck here.
As the development seems to go on now, I think of upgrading from Standard to Professional anyway...

Such good news. I really count on World Machine, as I got some great results for importing these landscapes to Cinema 4D (heightfields and using maps for distribution of rocks, plants and other items). I am at basic version at the moment, but think about upgrading.

Let's see how this continues...

By the way - How do I get the beta? Where is the download page?

I'm with Bob, but you could try to make a flat surface and project it on a cylinder. Will certainly need some fine tuning and you certainly need a cap.

- Exporting the terrains seems to be a superior function, not available in the cheap versions.
- I wonder, which masks are provided by Vue. WorldMachine supports a lot of different masks that can be used for distribution of items or materials.

I've been a Vue user for quite a while, but using Vue stuff outside of Vue was always a mess. If you are not going to use Vue as your main application, you may be stuck with not so perfect exports or more expensive versions...

I'm not afraid about that. For a decent upgrade price tag, I would pay and also change to the professional version.

He could remove the fake accounts with the ads for the mills and crusher. Saying something here would also give some the confidence (at least me) to upgrade or get a new license.

Great breakdown. Using masks to distribute the textures is a great idea. Unfortunately I have only the standard edition of world machine and this rules Geoglyph out, as far as I know. Substance Painter is on my wishlist for some month now and as it is supported by Cinema 4D now, I will get it in fall.

This looks very nice. Does it need the Pro edition or is the Standard edition sufficient.

I own GeoControl for a long time and I had a look at World Creator when they reopened. I thought that World Creator was almost dead and switched to World Machine a year ago. Now this is also failing it seems. It's just a mess WM is a great program, but it definitely needs some further development.

I'd love to find a good alternative, but I've seen none so far. I don't use it in game engines, but in CG like Cinema 4D and Blender. Seems I have to wait and live with workarounds so far...

Why not joining them in Photoshop upfront and separating them afterwards again?

I think it is. Been occupied with other things lately, but i may have to render a lot of landscapes soon and then the investment will certainly help.

I may be late here, but i use them in Cinema 4D with Vray.

Here is an example using a displacement map and a color map created with World Machine.
The only light is an HDRI.
