wish I knew sooner...

I have been using (fighting with) Terragen for years, and I was doing ok with it. I thought. Then I found World Machine... what a world of difference. There is so much more you can do with this software than Terra ever even thought of. I am glad to have found it and glad to be home, finally. I just wish I had found it sooner!

I think you will find they each serve different purposes.  Yes, they both can generate terrain, but Terragen's main purpose is to render out scenes.  World Machine can make great terrains that can be used by Terragen (or other applications) but it's not for rendering scenes to near photo quality with water, vegetation, etc.

So if you make a cool terrain with World Machine and import it to Terragen 2 you can make some awesome stuff ;)
These two softwares are made for each other  :D
