Hey everyone,

just wanted to post a quick look at some of the new look in v1.0. Although it is by and large very similar to v0.99, there will be some small but significant user interface changes made.

Here's one example, showing the detachable and customizable toolbars (the parts icons are all placeholders, as the real part icons haven't been drawn yet), as well as the hierarchical macro library. This last feature is quite nice, as you can simply arrange your macro library in windows explorer by making folders and moving the macros into them; the file structure will be reflected by folders inside of WM.

Three cheers for Stephen!
Wohoo!
Yeepee!
Huray!

Very nice to see the insides of what's to come :D
There is a major problem with the picture, though.. It's not interactive
Apart from that, I hope you understand images like this one spark curiosity and questions to anxious users :P so I'll have a few written down here :) :

-What are those 3 ugly last squares in the parts bar for? Are those icons as well? Who drew them?   (just kidding)
-Will that "Parts Bar" be dockable alongside the other buttons? I bet so!
-How will the icons work? Drag-and-drog into the playing-area or select-and-click like in the current menu interaction?
-Why did you name it "Parts Bar" instead of "Devices Bar"?
-WM runs on Windows XP! :-P

Congratulations on a marvellous job, Stephen!
Fil.

re: when will it be released?

I'll take the classic developer cop-out here and reply with "when it's done" :)

Also Fil, to answer your questions:

Yes, the parts bar can be docked and be like a normal toolbar.. actually, you can rip away and dock both the part and command bars, and dock them at the top, left, or right of the screen. Functionally, it still works the same way it always has.

The butt-ugly and blank icons at the bottom are just those that I've actually supplied a (blank) bitmap for in the plugin. The rest show the default device icons that are used if a plugin author doesn't choose to create icons for their devices.

hi stephen;

fantastic work!  looking mightly forward to this.  i do have a feature question:  alpha maps, ie bitmaps from external sources, will this concept be worked in? (or am i missing/not understanding an already implemented feature?)

again congrats,

Stephen

Hi Robin,

take a look at the File Input device (included in .99) and see if it can do what you're requesting; I believe it should be able to.
