Hi there,

In terms of terrain, I'd have to see a larger image but it looks to me like distortion was used to create a rippled rock effect. Try plugging in an additional noise generator to the distortion input of the advanced perlin to get that ripply look. From there, it's a matter of finding the base shapes that look the way you want them!

If you can figure out how it was done in Terragen, it is typically pretty easy to reverse engineer it into WM. Try contacting the original artist, or ask on the Terragen forums how that effect was achieved.

I know I am be a pedant, but In general, I find that sort of approach works well: to figure out how to A but for application B, do not try to learn to do A for B, first learn how to do A in isolation. Like how people who say "I want to learn to program video games!" should first learn to program.
