someone said I could use WM to map for farcry. is there a sticky or something on that?
Well it wasn’t me!
The closest I can remember on this forum was to model terrain for battlefield 1942.
Anyhow, WM can be used for anything that accepts a heightmap image. TGA is perhaps the most common image format.
In the case o Battlefield there is an editor by the game maker that reads the heightmap, and you can edit the level from there… I’m sure farcry isn’t much dfferent to work with.
However, no farcry specific problems were mentioned here yet. Make your self at home in this forum and see if any of the general purpose threads here help you one any issue of yours. If you still have any problem more specific, there might be someone with some more experience that may help.
Cheers,
You need the Sandbox Editor :
Farcry’s FAQ
In the manual (6 MB, follow the link above), they say you need to use a bitmap greyscale map. WM can export to bitmap, so that’s what you need.
They suggest to use a 1024x1024 terrain file, so you should register : 512x512 maps may produce a too low detailed map…
