Geoglyph from Dax Pandhi for WM2?

Saw this at cornucopia3d:http://www.cornucopia3d.com/purchase.php?item_id=11686&from=New&page=0

Looks very cool 8). Any word on how this works with WM, and if the exports can used with other digital terrain programs?

I guesss I’m answering my own question. Bought Geoglyph from cornucopia3d and first impressions are good. It’s a macro that adds some nice options, I’m looking forward to exploring a little with WM and Terragen 2, actually my recent purchase of Terragen has revitalized my interest in WM, so I hope to hang out here a bit more.

Hi there,

Cool to hear about the Geoglyph product.

Dax has long been doing good things with World Machine for a long time, and it looks like that macro is a well developed one!

So, I purchased this from Cornucopia (the Super Erosion Macro) and though I haven’t even tried it, the purchase was a mistake.
According to the usage rights (which you will not get to see until purchase) “This World Machine 2 Macro is NOT intended for distribution or for the creation of products to be sold/re-sold. This includes terrain templates, stock material, and the like.”
This makes the macro completely useless.
Nothing, according to Cornucopia and the developer, that you make with this macro can be used commercially. Am I reading it wrong?
$15 wasted.

Edit: So apparently I was reading it wrong, a bit. The developer has explained their usage rights/limitations and now I understand - don’t entirely agree - but understand. Commercial use is OK. You simply cannot create terrains as a product and sell them. I still think this needs to be clear before purchase.
I will try this macro now, hopefully it was worth the purchase.

super appreciate the feedback. Now I know I will not buy one

I really don’t have a problem with Quadspinner’s approach. How many people are going to create a viable business selling 32 meg heightfields anyway? Quadspinner has a large presence in the Vue market with a variety of products and certainly didn’t have to release the macro at all, they could have kept it inhouse and sold VOB files produced with it and maintained full control. I’m using it with Terragen 2, and should I make a terrain that warrants some merit I am free to post it for the community (not?). In the meantime, based on my still rudimentary grasp of T2 and WM, this macro really helps me produce some good looking terrain. For $15 dollars US that ain’t bad. I say thanks to Dax Pandhi for helping to validate the power of WM thru Geoglyph and other related future projects to a broad set of users.

The thing I dont like about it is that extrusions are non-tile-able. The final result it can be a really interesting and nice one. I have to test a bit more to see how can I get the most out of it. At higher resolutions it can be a little slow. But its useful, no doubt about that. If I would be able to connect more than one input, lets say for extrusions to make them tile-able, I would be quite satisfied.
