I’m working on a small scale, 304.8m square. I’m applying erosion to the lower half using a mask generated from the height. I can see it in the generated normal map, but not in the 3D view. I am trying to use the normal map to create detail on my low poly plane in Unity, but it doesn’t show up. I’m currently using the basic version, could this be caused by the small size of my world, or the 512 output limitation? Thanks.
hi there,
can you post a screenshot or your world file to take a look at?
thanks
It appears to be the amount of sediment. Reducing that seems to reduce the erosion effect globally, the other settings have little effect. (just like in real life The problem is it fills in the low area, flattens it, eliminating detail. When I use the default erosion settings, the erosion shown up on my low poly terrain. When I try to fine tune it, I believe the 512 resolution is too small to show up (I haven’t tried increasing the size after exporting it). Do you have any suggestions? I do plan to get the pro version. Thank you.
So mostly what the issue is is that you are seeing relatively little effect from the erosion, correct?
The small scale can make things more difficult to work in within WM (WM definitely has a “preferred” scale of 1km to several hundred km in terms of how the views are setup), but erosion should still work fine.
I believe mostly you are seeing minimal effect because of the erosion settings. For example, try changing to the preset “Good with terraces” or “Classic WM + power” to see if that increases the effect.
