4050 - Utility devices lost ability to be connected as parameters

All utility tab devices can not connect itself as parameters to other devices
They prefer to auto-connect to ControlDevice input
List of inputs of connect to not appear

Is this still true if you have a parameter plugged in to the matching input first? I thought I’d test it and came up with this:

on practice it is not comfortable

do not see reason to require input value
why i just can not connect wire where i want and add input value later
