I just encountered the most serious bug. After exporting the macro I just created and exiting the project, I found that the macro was less than 1kb and the project was also only 1kb. When I reopened it, everything was gone. Unfortunately, this was the only project I didn’t back up. My efforts over the past few weeks have been wasted. I don’t understand why this happened without warning, and it can’t be a serious bug caused by my computer configuration.
i swear
i did have the same
also same bug as i remember, did have Lutherkirch from WM discord - they did send me project to check is it really empty
developer did say that it maybe if your electricity was shut down while saving of file
but i’m confident that thats was happen just randomly -
my project was just with million nodes and wires - thats what i think was the reason
may be your reason was the same…
i’m sad that your work gone
i remember how much pain and anger i did have when my work did gone ![]()

i did suggest to add auto-save function with back-ups, like WorldPainter have - but i did not saw that developer like that idea - but if that bug will be not fixed, i really think that Stephen must add auto-backup function
but while that not happened - i just made myself to clone each my project every time when i press “Save as” - better to have 30 copies of your work, rather than hold it in one file - that all what i can suggest to do if you will still continue to work in WM
i’m really understand you
and really sorry that thats happened ![]()
Yes, I also think it’s necessary to add an automatic backup feature for project copies, because this happened without any warning, and it was indeed my oversight for not backing up in advance.
For now, I can only make sure to back up the project before saving each time.
@Stephen please accept my old suggestion for Autosave on User Suggestions - World Machine
It will be possible for me to ask guys to vote for Autosave feature, so you will see need in considiration of feature for future ![]()
