It would by fine to have the options from 4020 back, for “Constant” node to control the height, it is good for automatization some features and for “Shapes” the local space option needed for the Scattering.
That is still possible! The top ports are just hidden by default nowadays. You must hover the wire you wish to connect on top of the device of interest, and it will show you a context menu with parameters and inputs available to connect to. Then select the desired option and tada, it is connected again!
As for the local space for the Shapes device, you can still do that, but it requires a work around. Put the device inside of a group, and set the group’s Spatial Type to Localspace. I agree, this is a unnecessary complication of what was before trivial.
