[Feature Request] Add Text Tool to the Shapes Device

I noticed the potential of WM in creating stylized maps a long time ago. Especially when we want to create a matching map after creating the terrain, WM is sufficient to cover the entire process. The only problem is that after I finish the map, I still need to import the exported map into software such as Photoshop to type in text content, such as labeling area names, altitude, and so on. For this reason, I hope WM can add the function of adding text. I think one of the simplest ways is to add a “text shape” to the shapes device.

If it will be implemented as part of shape tool - quality of text notations will be dependent on resolution - you will be not read text if your text have small font+scene have low res

Maybe it could be implemented as two separate things - one part as shape node, and second one as just visual overlay notation tool that is not part of output files. Just overlay. Like Tile Build Grid or so

To some extent, this has nothing to do with resolution. My target product shape similar to the following img. I don’t expect a vector image output, but a PNG, just like the text tool in Photoshop does.

That’s a pretty awesome and unusual use of World Machine! I’d love to learn more about your workflow to achieve your stylized map, as I feel it could be useful to other people too.

A basic text shape wouldn’t be too hard to add, but I think achieving your map style might need more sophistication than that. I’ll put it on the feature upvote..
