Interesting terrain that's eluding me

Now here is a terrian I have been trying to replicate without much luck… I am making a mountain and combining it with some eroded Veroni for the fault type slabs but I can’t get the level of detail into it. How would you guys approach it?

If you want fault type stuff, you should try displacement. So just take some perlin generators (ridged maybe) and add quite a lot displacement.
That should create some nice faults to add to your terrain… or to substract.

Maybe mask some thermal and normal erosion by terrain angle (not slope)?

Both good ideas and probably both needed to get there. I will post if I get some more time to play with it.
