After an year away from PC, I’ve been trying to get back into terrain creation. And since both WM and Gaea have had heavy changes during this time, I haven’t been able to create anything interesting so far (my skills seem to have eroded with these updates). So I started small this time, with an Island (my comfort zone for experimentation).
Here’s my first attempt with this one, created with World Machine 4049, and Gaea 2.1.
Material and preview created with built in macros created for Hurricane Ridge.
Everything is heavily WIP. I’ll be taking this further.
Some more updates to the base structure. Changed material and lighting a bit so that I can decide the direction it goes better. Still not very happy, so going to tinker some more with it.
A lot more Spacial shenanigans later, and after cleaning and touching up nearly every device’s every parameter or ranges, I consider this one as “completed terrain”! Now going to export as much as I can into a library, and then on to creating a material!
I may make some small changes, but I need to move on from this one. I lost the original terrain creation graph yesterday (a story I won’t tell unless asked lol). All I have is the 8k baked dataset, using that to create materials etc. Cleaning up the rest now, hopefully I can get this up on gumroad by month’s end. If not, not the first terrain I lost to the march of time..
Terrain and material now finally done, only thing is to get a boatload of data out of World Machine. Here are the last screenshots I’ll post in this thread:
