License moved to new machine and "confirmed" activated but displaying as Demo

Your bug report should include:

  1. What happened

After days of effort, I was able to fix my old laptop and get into World Machine to deavtivate the license and register it on my new laptop. I get confirmation, but when I check the splashpage it shows the demo Evaluation License instead. Is this a glitch in the splashpage?

  1. Does it happen consistently, or randomly?

It’s been pretty consistent. I checked the license folder after about three tries and the license file looks right, but I want to be certain before running the 4050 update.

  1. The steps to reproduce it. Include a screenshot or world file if possible

On relaunch, it remains the same:

@Stephen: I don’t recall if the Indie license is a home-work 2-seater, but if it is, then my second was on the laptop ASUS replaced. As mentioned in my help ticket, I won’t be able to deactivate it because they kept the old one and issued a reimbursement. So, I’d still need your help to free it up again.

I tracked down the EULA so now I’m clear on the seat limit of 1. So I only need to find out if the activation is working behind the scenes and the splash page is just displaying incorrectly. If this is a known bug fixed in 4050, then I’ll just do the update.

The license file for the trial license that was created for you still exists side-by-side with your actual license, and is sometimes picked up preferentially while still within the valid period for it.

Go into the license manager within WM. Selec the Trial License tab, then click “Stop Trial License”. Then close the dialog.

If you restart WM, you should no longer receive messages about the trial.
