[Linux + Wine] WM-4041 crashes while using the 'Select Slope' device

(Disclaimer: I know that World Machine is -for now- intended for use on Windows only, and I will not hesitate to use it on Windows too if this issue doesn’t seem to be resolvable any time soon.)

Hi,
first of all thank you for this amazing update!
I just installed it to try the new features and I noticed an issue while using the Select Slope device.
While trying to preview the terrain with this device, World Machine crashes after a few seconds.
It seems to have that behavior every time I try to preview what the result of the device is. However, world build works fine if I don’t try to preview that device specifically.
My theory is that it may be linked to the new Slope Overlays announced in the change-logs, though I cannot verify if that is what’s causing this issue. System logs and World Machine logs didn’t provide any useful information.

As I said, I know that Linux and MacOS support still under development, and I am glad to hear that. I will consider running World Machine under Windows if this issue persists, even though it is a bit annoying since I use Linux on a daily basis.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and have a great day

I did a bit of more research, and I found out that this issue seems to appear only in newly created worlds, i.e. opening old world saves and creating and/or previewing a ‘Select Slope’ device works perfectly fine.

I also found out that the Slope Overlay is not linked to the Select Slope device as I thought but rather a preview feature toggle-able at any time. That feature works fine.

Thanks to the development team of World Machine, this issue should be
fixed now!
Re-installing the build 4041 from the update site seems to have done the job.
