Preview Windows loading endlessly

When adding a third Erosion device to the graph my Preview renders empty. Instead I get an endlessly cycling loading symbol which looks like this:

wm_preview_endlessly_loading

Any idea what settings I might need to change to get back the preview?
I can keep adding other devices and the preview works.
As soon as I add one more Erosiion node the view fails.

@Polynaught Change any parameter inside that erosion node.

Thx for your suggestion. Already tried that.
To clarify: I build to that device (yellow sphere button) and expect to see a result with higher resolution then the realtime preview. That’s how it always worked. Instead I get the freezing circle thingy.
When I change parameters inside the newly added erosion node I indeed see the realtime preview as expected.
But as soon as I build to that device once more, the rendering freezes again.

Not sure what to make of that.
System memory sits at 15.6 of 63.9 GB usage.
CPU idles at 3%.
GPU is at 34% and 1.6/24 GB.

by usage of which software you did create such gif?

@Polynaught Instead of split view, have you tried switching to the full 3D view after build yet?

In my limited experience with the current dev build, I’ve encountered this preview problem after build twice. I think it has to do with the new memory optimization thingy implemented with this build, still a bit rough tbh. Try saving/restarting the project file and do a build, see if anything changes. More testing clearly needed in this area.

It is called ScreenToGif.

Sorry for the long delay between posts.
Yes, I tried full 3D view as well which showed a blank flat terrain I think - too long since I messed with that particular scene.
Saving, reloading the scene did do nothing to change the above behavior.
In the end I rebuilt the scene from scratch and it worked again. Not sure what went wrong.

@Polynaught There have been some updates to the program since then. It’s much more stable on my end now. Some issues still remaining, hope they get fixed before final release.

Hi there, just to make sure I understand the full context of your bug report before offering a diagnosis:

In both videos, it looks here like you are adding a new device to a world that has previously been built with Memory Conservation mode turned on.

(The prior devices status light is Blue, and the mouseover click tells you as much).

Is that correct?

Also:

  1. What build of World Machine are you running
  2. Within Program Settings → Build/Preview, what is the checked state of “Allow background previews” and “Boost interactive resolution”?
