Spike

Can anyone tell me how to make the detail of the terain less spike. I tend to get some spike small hills 3 meter high. I want to make them less spike. It looks unnatural. I can se them best after I imported them in to UDK

There are several things that can cause spikiness. The first thing I would check is where they are being introduced – are they present right from the start of the device network, or are they introduced by a certain device?

Perhaps posting a screencap of what your referring to could be helpful too.

It seems like the spike has few vertex.

trying adding a small scale (1-2 pixel) blur right before the erosion device. sometimes extremely sharp terrain features will cause erosion to produce things like you noticed – smoothing the input will help.
