This thread is probably in 5 places at once because of n00bs like me, but what do we know of these “File Output Devices” that can change a TMd into a file usable for, say Terragen?
Ok then, lets go thru the basics of working with devices and lack of documentation:
Most devices have parameters inside for us to change and play with. We access them by double-clicking the devices. The file-output device is no exception, and inside are all the parameters for saving (or exporting) a terrain in a format, just tick the available format option, for terragen its the top-right most “terragen format” option.
After selecting the format, set the filename and location. If you’ve built the scene already you can hit the “Write output to disk!” button, and presto… You should have a new file on your computer. If you have ant problem saving a file, check this other thread for more info.
As we are in a documentation-short epoque :(, exploration and trial and error may be the best ways to jump-start learning WM’s peculiarities…
