Anyone have any hints or suggestions to create “wedge” shaped mountains. I want something that has a sheer drop on one side, and a more gentle curve on the opposite. The best example is the famous “Half Dome” in Yosemite.
I can manage it with specific layout generators I guess, but I wanted something simpler with fractals so I can move and scale it around pretty easily.
Hi Tacocombo, there are a few ways:
-
use two layouts. One in add mode to add the height, with a very steep falloff. The other layout right against (or overlapping the previous one) in subtract mode and with 0 falloff. The latter should dig a sheer cliff.
-
paint the shape in a paint program.
-
Use World Machine gradient device and position it in world space (using the device position controls) such that the point where the gradient falls off vertically is aligned correctly.
