i can’t open 16bit file in photoshop cs2.
made povray-TGA(16bit)image----->open phothoshop---->photoshop read it 8bit images. ---->occur stair situation.

Hi Kang, welcome…
The stairs are because of using 8 bit (saving or loading).
Read this post for more info and solutions.

As for uploading of pictures, you can’t. :frowning: You must find some place to put them online, and link to them by placing the url between img and /img tags.

Cheers,

try it…thank you your concern.

Hey!
You can load up images at www.imageshack.us .

I try to all my effort. but stair situation leaves still, as you look picture.

try: 1. I extract *.ter to WM and then use tconv.exe-->i made
16bit tif images. but still leaves a contour line.
              2. extract .r16 file and change to file extension. then
                   Channels count = 1
                   Depth = 16bit
                   Byte order is IBM PC
                   Header is 0 bytes.

open the file above option in photoshop cs2.
                   but result is same.

trouble shoot image!!!

Note that “seeing” artifacts on a greyscale image in a monitor, may be natural due to the color depth being used, graphics drivers, or other things.
Test things using your modelling tool, like you have done on your last image.
I am unable to help you much further than this, because I don’t have the right tools to test it myself.

Though, searching the forum, I found this Sticky topic, which may be of good use to you: From World Machine to 3D Studio MAX in 16-bit via TIFF/PNG (disable Color Management)

thank you Fil! your continuosly concern!!

I don’t work out a problem. but solve it soon.

my work flow: wm–>extract heightmap–>photoshop cs edit—>
maya(displacement or import paint effect map):extract modeling---->Zbrush edit+detail(remove stair situation and draw detail)

thanks Fil Again!
be a great help to me…
