Visit the Upgrade Center to upgrade if you’re a Standard or Professional Edition customer. The 2.2 Basic Edition is available simply by revisiting the primary download page.
Lots of things in the works right now to talk about as far as improvements and enhancements to WM goes, but let’s not put the cart before the horse! WM 2.2 Fixes a host of issues and I strongly recommend the upgrade for all users.
I would appreciate it if someone could further explain this though:
“Color Gradient device: You can now create a bitmap from an input terrain using any of the built-in colortables, or your choice of external color gradient image files”
I’m not sure how to make use of this. How does it improve my ability to create Splatmaps in World Machine?
Your WM 2 serial should work. Email me at support@world-machine.com to followup on this, but also make sure that you have typed it exactly correct into the registration box.
The color gradient device is very simple but quite useful: it allows you to introduce into the network, an RGB data packet with the same colors as WM is currently displaying in its colormap previews. This is probably not directly helpful for splatting, but has been highly requested and is a small but useful addition.
I have found WM just a few days ago. I downloaded V1.25 Standard Edition. I have to become familiar with that one before even thinking about upgrading to the new release because, after all, it is USD 89 (if I am not mistaken). I want to use it to make fictional terrains for the Trainz railroad simulation, and Trainz is about half the cost of that.
Right now I have a full bag of questions which I will put down in the appropriate places in the forum.
