First, I have never encountered this issue myself, but members of my discussion group have experienced it several times. I’ve been involved in tracking it down and am recording my current attempts and findings here:
The general description of the issue is: When you click WorldMachine64, the program crashes immediately. WorldMachine doesn’t start, no window appears, and there’s no error message. There’s no crash log; when you click WorldMachineCMD, the command line appears briefly and then disappears.
Tried:
- Deleting all files in the temp folder (no effect)
- Deleting all project files that were automatically saved after the crash (no effect)
- Deleting WorldMachine and reinstalling it (no effect)
- Deleting WorldMachine and clearing all related registry entries before reinstalling it (no effect)
To date, we haven’t found a solution to this issue. I suspect this is because WM stores certain configuration files in addition to the customizable file paths in the configuration file. These files aren’t automatically destroyed after deleting WM. Or maybe the WM has some side effects on the operating system, and they are not automatically recycled after the WM is deleted?
