Yet another planet request

Like I’ve seen in a bunch of older posts – I’d like to apply tiled terrain to a spherical approximation. This could be as simple as a UTM-based translation and rotation with a supplied radius and use of the full tileset to form the spherical planet. I don’t even care about the poles – they could be flat terrain or ocean.

Another way to do this could be an engineering round-trip full tiled mesh output/input using a common format, such as dxf. This I could code up a file reader/writer and deform the mesh onto a sphere and drop back out for input again by WM.
