It’s been very quite here for the last few months… Is there any news on updates, progress on possible new features etc.

Yeah !
Is Stephen alive ?? not heard from him since April :>
no news on his blog either… I was expecting 2.2 Release Late May - Early June… it is end of July now and it is only silence… Do you guys need some help maybe ? I would really be disappointed if this project stops in evolution as it have great potential… If anyone from dev team is still alive, please keep us, users informed and let us know what is going on, as we are getting worried now
Cheers !!
My point exactly… 59 views and 1 comment… As a big time user, and huge fan, it’s nice to get some sort of feedback from time to time.

Yeah, point taken. I agree. This is the best app imo and I’ve used/tested a lot of them. A few words of acknowledgement in the forums would be good to see. I recently read similar concerns expressed on a (fairly well known) competitors forum, so it seems to be a quiet time all round.

Yes, and I think it (developers not keeping a presence in the forums) has a negative effect on sales too. When I’m ready to make a purchase, I usually check the forums to see how active they are. It’s usually a good sign if there’s a lot of activity.
I’m not sure a potential new customer would be too excited after seeing how dead this forum seems to be, which is a shame for such a great product.
There is only one developer (Stephen) and he is alive.
Nikita: B.S. in Macro Science…hehe Have you ever played around with MapZone? its such a nice app for making macro textures, I haven’t really got a handle on it yet but its pretty powerful. As for things being slow here…I do agree…we have been expecting that update for quite a while…
I’m also a huge fan of this app and think its pretty much the only one i can rely on for some real work output. I should have a tech demo out soon for our new 16 terrain game engine which Will showcase how important world machine was in the development of the mountain data. I will post the vid when i get permission and hope it inspires some others here.

Haven’t heard of MapZone before… looks nice, I think I’ll take a closer look when the current semester is finally over.
oooh yeh MapZone rings a bell. Was hugely impressed but never used it myself. I never seem to get to the texturing stage of my stuff… lol

Yes, I know that, but it doesn’t seem it would take that much time for him to interact in the forum a little more. Look at 3D-Coat and how much time Andrew spends in his forums.
Anyway… Mapzone is quite powerful but a bit hard to learn. However, being node based, WM users may take to it quicker. Definitely need to go through the introductory tutorials though because the interface controls are not obvious.
[edit] Just wanted to add… If you look at the Mapzone forums, they look dead (in fact, there’s a thread there that addresses that topic.) A difference is Mapzone is a free program, so expectations of developer presence are not as great.
Mapzone is old and pretty much obsolete now though. It has been replaced by Substance Air, which is not free. Very cool programs in any case, shame they don’t really focus too much on run time generation but do it all at load or install.
Agreed, we all know this is a one man show… It’s a wonderfull product, and I thank him for all the work he’s done to make it what it is. But just like any buisness, you need to take care of the customers. We use this product in production every day to some degree, and the lack of involvement is worrysome.

…I mean… really… I don’t know how busy you have to be to post on forum/blog even once a month…
I do not expect anyone to write a book about his life, but at least something… even few words like “Hi guys, there is a delay, but we are working on it”, or whatever, just to show people here that he care… honestly… last post on the blog is from April and it says that we should be expecting next patch within a month or so… since April… anyway, I am not demanding a patch but at least a word from him saying “I am working on it guys, hold on tight”… And again… if he need some sort of support or if he is short of funds, say something please… there are people here who rely on this software a lot and I am sure that they will appreciate a lot if he could share his toads with us… Cheers.
Okay… you’re both right.
Will we hear from him soon then ?
That would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
yes Stephen…come say hello to us all
