I’m looking to potentially get a decommissioned server to render my worlds. I know world machine is a cpu-based rendering program, what should I be looking out for when looking at xenon processors and stuff like that. I.E is gigahertz better than thread count. I’m planning on doing title builds as my world are ridiculously big (180224x180224). Just seeing if anyone has advice or experience with this before I make a purchase.
Go for more core count, the highest per core speed you can buy. Higher number of cores preferable over gigahertz.
Also look for more memory capacity if you’re going for very high resolution builds. WM eats up memory like crazy, especially if you’re also doing materials for your terrains. For reference, my 128GB memory and 10 core processor system, takes overnight to build 16k, and requires disk swapping.
