I’ve been playing around trying to get a cratered look on terrain, something similiar to what you would find on the moon. So far I have been pretty unsuccessful.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get that look?
I’ve tried using voronoi to get a crater look, but it just doesn’t work well enough. Any suggestions on how I could make either a generator that makes circles that could then be used to overlay onto the terrain height field?
Still playing around with it, but any suggestions would be helpful.
(I saw in the other thread when I searched that there was a tutorial on creating craters, but the link for the thread was dead, there was also mention of a macro called Crater Maker IV but any versions of the macro I find seem to give errors when I tried and load them.)
Doh! Sometimes it takes someone else to point out the obvious… Forgot about that one. Thanks!
On a similar vein though, are there any crater macros that work with World Machine 2 that can quickly create dozens of crater impacts without having to manually create each one?
Oh yeah, I’ve also tried making the crater using the layout generator with circles, and it seems like a good way to go, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to make a profile in the curve editor for the circle that doesn’t end up in the upper right corner like the profile in the curve device in the tutorial. Am I not using the correct device? I havent been able to find the “Curves” device.
I just figured it out. It turns out that device is not in World Machine Pro 2 that the company installed on my machine. It is however in World Machine 2.1 Pro. I now see the device listed under Filters.
I now return you back to your regularly scheduled program.
There was a repackaging bug which caused the curves device (among others) to disappear from some WM2 installs. I think it depended on your OS/WM2 version.
Anyway, I’ve made some pretty nice crater landscapes in the past and I could help you out if you can post what your problem is. Maybe show some screenshots of the terrain and attach the tmd?
