Well IMHO the teaser video is not at all impressive. True it’s in still in beta and a short blurry teaser so i will give e-on the benefit of a doubt.

My general impression of the teaser video is this.

The clouds appear to be a volumetric version of Vue’s current bryce-like cloud system so not to pleased with that.

The EcoSystem Generation II sounds nifty but will it deliver the goods. One thing i did not like was not enough editing of one’s vegitation. It should be more feature rich with the unique rules based system like x-frog has.

A Spectral Atmosphere model and the MetaCloud™ I have no idea what that is supposed to be.

What i would like to see in Vue 6…

The terrains by now should be global one would hope.
Will there be overhangs with true displacement?
Sub-Surface Scattering in the materials?
Will the clouds have hard edged details, true feathery cirrus and tall billowing cumulonimbus?

We shall wait and see.

Glad to finally see them put in volumetric clouds. No idea how interesting any of the other features will be, and I have the same questions as you about those particular features - global context and displacement especially. Without those TG2 at least is still ahead in features. Otherwise there may be virtual feature parity, and then the question is which is faster (rendering and working with), easier to use, and then it comes down to cost. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
