How do i make mountains like this?

hey, i am very new to WM and i want to make a terrain like this, can someone show me how? i want it as close as possible, i have been messing around in WM for about 50 hours but feel like i havent made any progress. help would be much appreciated.

Hey! WM has a very steep learning curve and some workflows are very particular/specific. Could you maybe share your results so far? Then we can better nudge you in the right direction!

my problem is i dont know what shapes to draw in the shapes node and what nodes to get this kind of mountain, i been busy learning another type of mountains so this one here is all new to me. thanks for replying.

I have no great experience with creating mountains using the Shapes device, as I prefer the procedural route.

The reference material you’ve provided also appears to be procedurally generated. Probably with something like a billowy type of noise from a Perlin noise generator. This then combined with a mask to only create near the edges, and to slowly recline the height.

Then they’ve probably used the old version of the Thermal Weathering device to shape the slopes of the mountains, followed by an Erosion pass. That is, if I were to guess, a rough approach to this type of terrain.

alright thanks i will try that, one more question, how are mountains like this here made? can it be done in shapes for is it procedural? if so what nodes would make this?
sorry for asking about node combinations alot, i just have been using WM for 3 weeks and still havent gotten satisfying results, i expected it to only take about 5 days to learn haha.
