How to Re-Flow

Hi there,

Since I can’t see what’s happening behind the erosion node, I was wondering how can I get flow and deposition maps of a terrain without running it through an erosion node?

Sorry but, anybody know how to generate flow and other maps for an already eroded terrain? without running it through erosion node again?

Did you try slope selector to do that?

The thing about flow map is it happens regardless of slope. It can start from top of the mountain as thin lines (like 80 degree) and go to the floor (which is 0 degree). If I use the slope selector it selects entirely what is between 0 to 80 degrees.

I am also curious, this would help me a lot.

Hi there,

There’s no way to get deposition maps without actually performing the erosion; although you can calculate flow maps without doing so, there’s no way to do that within WM currently.

The solution is simple however – create an erosion device with a short duration, and use it to generate the maps – then discard the terrain output, but use the resulting flow/sed maps.

I tried this sometime ago, but such erosion map didnt fit much original height map. But i will try again play more with erosion settings. Thanks.
