I’ve reported this bug twice before, but prepared a clean demo file to test. Updated project file as well as devices before testing with the latest build of WM.
What happened:
If multiple inputs are connected to a Library output, Library device does not register the first input streams name. Instead, it takes up the name of the connected device. In most cases that may be fine, but in case of custom names using checkpoints, this is a big problem with asset naming on my end at least.
Does it happen consistently, or randomly?
Consistently. Across multiple builds.
The steps to reproduce it. Include a screenshot or world file if possible.
I’ve prepared a straightforward demo file for Build 4041/42. Also attaching a screenshot of the bug.
Edit: Here’s the reference for the previous Bug report, with a linked demo file for the Artist Point build. I know this is a known issue, just prepared a new version updated project file for testing purposes, so decided to make another post.
Update: So Stephen (through support ticket) clarified that this is intended behavior for now, and only affects those of us who use checkpoints for custom naming of assets within a library. For the rest, this is a workaround for most unlabeled default output ports named “Primary output”. He did suggest a workaround, but I think this one needs some brainstorming first.
And have you rechecked whether those bugs you reported have been fixed or not, against the latest dev build? That would be a better reply than anything he says yeah?
@Tomatiy Could be a problem with new memory management/live build caching thingy. On my PC it just pages very aggressively, memory usage rarely goes over 20-25 GB (I have 128gb, 80% of it available to WM).
Everything about this release, every corner, needs more widespread testing, under various scenarios. That’s why I keep pushing the agenda “bring more people here”, as here we can figure out stuff better among peers.
Aaaa, okeeey, i did write one more opinion while cleaning of bаthroom, it is not final, but i just want to hear what you think:
Idea of forum is more close to archive of papers. Library of books. It have no relation to word “alive”. For years individual souls come here to write some posts and go away forever. Those footprints on dust that you(maybe not you) name “Useful information” have zero value. No one young-head will have passion to dig under tones of threads made ages before, sitting in silence. Everyone wants drive, epic stuff, showcases, events, voice chats, co-working with screen shares, activities, prizes, discussion about cats - all possible words that really related to meaning of “alive” term
Forum is “procrastinative documentation” - due to that, because for all those 20+ years WM did not obtained huge system of documentation that represents all possible technics and answer all questions, - forum become place where you post question - and wait for answer. Forum existance is not decision. Forum is compromise between documentation and social activity. It not fully covers both of those sides by which creates dead situation. - Because for good “procrastinative documentation” you need people activity that you will use to write post on every question. And for good social activity you need place with voice chats, events, showcases, where messages and posts creates by users on speed of light of universe.
Due to that forum is placeholder of un-existing deep documentation, and only upgrading it with social medias with solve it un-social, un-alive nature, spectated for all those 20+ years
For that reason i want socials made officially by WM, EHEHEH
I did save that to notations, maybe will improve arguments and general text in future to publish as big post. Or maybe you will shut up my mouse by good arguments before that, EHEHEH
