Here’s an easier way to think about it: All of your various devices and generators reside in the same world. You can explore that world in Layout View. The render extents don’t exist per-device, but rather for the entire world; it says what part of the world you want to export.
If you want to have many different render extents, you can definitely do that – simply create additional render extents. You can do this either manually from your “Project Settings” dialog, or graphically in the layout view (select " New Extents").
Then you don’t need to replicate your network for each different area – instead, you will have just a single chain of devices, and you can choose what area to build/output by selecting the appropriate render extent
(you can quickly cycle through them by using the left/right arrows at the top of the sidebar).
But that means, I have to choose every extent manually, when I want to build it, I guess?
A setup, where I define let´s say a dozen interesting extents, press “build” just once and the PC calculates the dozen extents (overnight) is not possible this way, it seems?
Ok, adding a few extents and selecting them works good!
But is there a way, to compute all extents in a project (automatically) after another, like clicking on “build”, go away and when returning the other day, all extents were builded?
Oh wait… forget it - filenames for bitmap outputs, etc. have to be typed in manually and so on… nah, got to sit here and wait till one extent is finished, get everything out and stat over with the next extent…
