TG2 Alpha

It has been awhile sense anyone has seen new TG2 renders. Here is a new one from Luc today.

The small terrain details are just amazing with the mix of several shaders and the strong shadows make it look like it is a hot day in that image. I still want to see JavaJones TG2 Planet as well. Wonder what happend to that?

Actually that Luc image is fairly old. Well, not “old”, but at least a month I’d say.

My planets are “baking”.

Ahhh! Still one of the nicest ones showcasing the small detailed shaders.

Just let us know when they are out of the oven, ok. Yum!

Shall do!

Woah, the resemblance is striking! Cool. I bet that wasn’t intentional, and most people probably think that image isn’t very realistic, but that’s the thing about nature - ever surprising.

I was surprised to find this land form myself. It was under the Plate Techtonics chapter. I had to show this. I have a tendency to think TG2 is going to be full of many surprises.

Is that 2nd link a photo? It looks a photo because of the many “rivery” channels in there… But it doesn’t look like a photo because of the very equally spaced features defining the strata on the base of the leaned terrain…
Anyway, it was because of that that a macro called “Custom Terrace” appeared on WM 1.x

I’d like to try to recreate the San Rafael Monocline in World Machine, “try” and minus the overhangs ofcourse. Custom Terrace will come in handy.

 give it a try then! My personal oppinion is that the macro doesn’t do it “as wonderfully” as I would like, because it works by moving land up/downwards to simulate the leaned terrain. It tappers things a little instead of preserving vertical angles with a linear gradient… In reality the terrain is “rotated” and not “tappered”… But this may be a perfeccionist’s mumbling… It’s probably nothing important

I see many simularitys here.

Badwater Turtleback Fault in Death Valley.

Look at “Photo ID: hf8mz4” 7th photo down from the top.
