Thinking about upgrading to pro - Got tiled export questions

hi,

I am thinking about upgrading to the WM PRO version, to have access to tile-export feature.
So I want to make sure, the feature works the way I need it to. Otherwise, the PRO version is not for me, I guess.

Question:

[ul][li]Are only height maps exported or can I export color map, splat map and normal maps as well?[/li]
[li]Will the exportet maps tile without a seam in Unity/UE engine? In other words, does WM take some
overlap into account on exported tiles/maps?
[/li]
[li]Will it work even with erosion?[/li]
[li]Can somebody confirm / show some examples of tiled terrians in unity or UE?[/li][/ul]

Cheers!

  1. You can export tiled heightfields, bitmaps (splat/normal/texture/etc), and meshes.
  2. The exported maps can optionally have matching edges or not – typically but not always, each tile will have duplicate edges, and WM will work either way.
  3. Yes, with some caveats; erosion and some other devices do not always perform the same in a tiled build as they do in a normal one. This can be mitigated by turning up the “blending factor”, but cannot be removed completely.

I can offer a 30 day fully functional trial of the Professional Edition that you can use to see if it works for your needs. Open a support ticket at the helpdesk (http://www.world-machine.com/helpdesk) with your name and email address to get started on that route.

Great!

I send a ticket to support!

Thanks in advance

The support did not get back on me - maybe there went something wrong with the ticket.
Got no email or ticket number :frowning:

Does that mean, tilkes are not matching on edges, when erosion is used?
I read something about the need to turning off “Geological time enhancement”?

Best Regards

/push a bit

any ideas regarding this?

if i upgrade from Standard to Pro - do I get my license renewed and gain access to the new “RivePreview” builds?

The edges will still match, in that you won’t have a gap between tiles; however the erosion will just look plain different, as it’s using only a subset of the total terrain information to perform its work.

Regarding upgrading: yes, an upgrade to Professional automatically provides you with another free year of updates.

Ok, that´s good News
